Community Fun & Fitness Relays
 

The 4th Annual CFFR resumed after a two-year hiatus due to the Covid 19 pandemic. We moved to an earlier date (May 22nd) and a new facility, the Carbondale Community High School (CCHS) Track and Field Complex. The facility was awesome, and CCHS staff (Gwen Poore and Thor Hadfield) helped make Race Day run smoothly. We are truly grateful for CCHS being one of our major sponsors! Weather cooperated, and the event was enjoyed by over 100 participants, spectators, and volunteers. Brehm Preparatory School again supplied the largest number of participants and was one of our four major sponsors. (Click here for a related video montage.) The Carbondale Park District (CPD) provided insurance coverage and helped us staff the meet with their wonderful volunteers. Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) rounded out our list of major sponsors. We so appreciate the wonderful people and organizations that provided donations to help run our event. We added a new event this year (shot put) in addition to the usual sampling of relays, dashes, and- of course- the mile run, which was a hit. Stay tuned for the debut of a new event and additional categories at next year's CFFR!
